Draft for DSB to review

This text is a starting point written for DSB Loan Tracker. It has not been checked by a lawyer yet and may change before other lenders are invited.

1. In short

Each company's loan book is private to that company. DSB, which runs the platform, cannot see your customers, loans, payments or amounts through the product. The restriction is written into the code and checked by automated tests every time the app changes.

2. What we keep

  • About you and your staff: name, email, phone, password (stored only as a secure hash), role, and when you log in.
  • About your company: its name, country, settings, rate table and subscription payments.
  • Your loan book: the customers, loans, payments and money entries you type in or import. You decide what goes in.

3. Who can see it

  • Your company's users, each according to their role (owner, manager, loan officer, viewer).
  • DSB's administrators see only: company name, owner contact, plan, subscription payments, and counts (users, logins, number of loans and customers). Never names of your customers or any amount.
  • The honest part: whoever operates the database server could technically read the stored data, as with any online service. DSB limits that access to the people who run the servers, and does not read your data unless you ask for help with it or the law requires it.
  • Customers' phone and ID numbers will be encrypted in the database in a later version.

4. Payments

Online subscription payments are handled by Paystack. DSB never sees your card number or MoMo PIN; we receive only the amount, the date and a reference.

5. Messages

We email you for password resets, invitations, receipts and (if you turn it on) the morning summary. WhatsApp messages to your customers are sent by you, from your own phone.

6. How long we keep it

As long as your company uses the app. Backups are kept for 30 days. When a company is cancelled, its data is kept so it can come back; ask DSB if you want it deleted.

7. Your rights

You can see and correct your data in the app, export it from Reports, and ask DSB to delete it. Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) applies.
